Today, little Bea, you are one month old!
In just 30 days, here are the things I have learned about you:
-you are still figuring out the paci. Sometimes you like it, other times you gag on it. You rarely sleep with it, although you occasionally fall asleep with it in your mouth
-you have no birth marks or blemishes but you did break out in a very mild case of baby acne last week
-your hair is dark but your eyelashes and brows are so light they are almost invisible
-your baby hair has some texture to it. When it gets wet/sweaty, it curls. Maybe you inherited this from me?
-you prefer your hands up by your head when you sleep. We have never attempted to swaddle them
-right before you go into deep sleep, you seemingly wake up, give a short cry, and then you are out
-you prefer to sleep on your belly (under close supervision of course)
-the only time you cry is when you are tired or need to be burped
-you are soothed by me rubbing the bridge of your nose
-you have an outie like your big sis. Although only 10% of humans have this, I love that both of my girls share this feature. I’m sure it will take some time for you both to appreciate this 🙂
-your eyes are blue and it seems they will stay that way
-after each feeding, I attempt to keep you up for 15-75 minutes. You sleep about 6 hours at night followed by a 3 hour stint. Perfect.
-you are beginning to find your voice and make the sweetest coos
-you have excellent head control and when on your stomach, you can arch your back and lift your head completely up and turn it from side-to-side
-and finally, just because it’s fun, a side-by-side comparison:
(big girl, already a pound on her sis!)
We are just beginning to discover you. But I love what I have learned so far.
Keep growing and changing!
